Honouring Murray Sinclair: A legacy of truth, reconciliation, and action

We were saddened to hear of the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair on November 4, which made headlines around the world. A trail blazer whose legacy is felt in many ways, Justice Sinclair’s vision for a better and more equitable country helped shape Can-SOLVE CKD Network’s commitment to inclusion, cultural competency, and collaboration as seen in our Core Values.

Can-SOLVE CKD Network welcomes a new communications manager

We’re excited to welcome Isabela Varela to Can-SOLVE CKD Network’s Operations Team as our new Communications Manager.

Born in Chile and raised in Edmonton, Isabela is a strategic communications leader with more than a decade of expertise in storytelling and strategy. Her journalism background has shaped her approach to communication, which is fact based and grounded in empathy and an unwavering commitment to sharing voices that often go unheard.

We’re thrilled to have Isabela on board to lead our communications activities and help raise awareness and understanding of Can-SOLVE CKD’s work. Moving forward, all communications inquiries can be directed to Isabela at ivarela@cansolveckd.ca.

Patient Partners in action: Lessons from ASN 2024

Our work at the Can-SOLVE CKD Network is built around the experiences, priorities, and perspectives of our diverse patient partner community. Patient partners play a critical role in shaping studies and influencing policies that prioritize equitable, patient-centered care.

This fall, Charles Cook and Kelly Loverock, two members of the Can-SOLVE CKD Network, brought their unique perspectives to the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) conference in San Diego. Their reflections offer a powerful reminder of why patient voices are essential to advancing kidney health research and care.

Welcome back communications coordinator Amanda Green

We would like to welcome back communications coordinator Amanda Green from maternity leave. She looks forward to supporting the communication initiatives at the network. You can contact Amanda at agreen@cansolveckd.ca
