In recognition of Kidney Health Month in Canada and World Kidney Day, members of the Indigenous Initiatives Team at Can-SOLVE CKD Network, Jocelyn Jones and Catherine Turner, presented a free webinar on March 11 at the UBC Learning Circle.
An audience of 95 people, consisting mostly of health professionals and community members from across Canada, attended the live online learning opportunity, titled “Indigenizing Kidney Research Through Relationality and Kindness”.
Jones and Turner shared insights about the importance of building trust and fostering community engagement in the context of Indigenous kidney health research and screening, using the example of the BC Kidney Check program. They also provided practical examples of how to incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing and cultural safety and respect in research practices.
Watch the webinar recording and gain insight into how kindness and collaboration can lead to more impactful and respectful research outcomes.
